Winter Picnic

Plan a family picnic out in the cold of winter.  Use this experience to talk about the season of winter – how everything seems cold and dead – yet we know that Spring is coming where life will come bursting forth.  Connect this to our life in Christ.  When have you gone through a season of ‘winter’ in your life?  How did your faith help you through that cold time?  Talk about the wintery season in Jesus’ life that lead to his death on the cross – just like Spring brings new life after winter – Jesus rose from the grave bringing new life to all who believe in him.  Share your winter picnic stories by replying to this post.

Praise – Family Time Training (email 11-1-2012)

Praise God in Tough Situations

Here is November’s Family Time Training Event.  Family Time is a ministry of home devotions for families that creatively combine fun object lessons with Christian Teaching.  This month’s free lesson (designed to get you comfortable and interested in Family Time) is called “Praise” and focuses on Paul’s reaction to being imprisoned.  Paul praised God – and others came to know Jesus as a result.

Thanksgiving Traditions that Point to Jesus

As we prepare for Thanksgiving and the holiday season it is a great time to create family traditions that point to God.  Holidays create wonderful memories for children – partly because we do things that are special and out of the ordinary.  This is a great time to connect our families to faith and life development.
What are some of your family traditions for Thanksgiving?  Add a comment to this post with your ideas.
